Robert Frost and Shel Silverstein

Fire or Ice Whatif

Last night, while I lay thinking here,
some Whatifs crawled inside my ear
Whatif the world ends in fire?
Whatif it ends in ice?
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
Everything seems well, and then
the nighttime Whatifs strike again!

Day 24

Collegelife

Think adventure/

            experience/

scheduling/

            work/

Expectations to make a name for yourself.

College is pressure/

            Social and educational chaos.

They say life is what you make it.

            What They mean is

You are given the opportunity to Prove yourself,

Don’t/mess/up

I waited for independence

now I have it.

Picture Inspiration

Home

Water ripples as it sweeps by,

The cat tails shake, for their hips don’t lie.

Where the blue skies meet the ground,

The wind tickles the Long Island Sound.

The elegance of nature seen in one simple shot,

The beauty of my inspiration is caught.

When I come home to this sacred place,

I can’t help but to marvel in its grace.

When my life appears to unravel,

There is only a short distance to travel.

For within these rods I have grown,

These beaches are where I’m at home.

Adventure without Regret!

Day 20

               I Sit by the Bay

Long I have traveled to find my way,

Yet I find myself as I sit by the bay.

The serenity arranges my scattered thoughts,

And unravels my stomach’s many knots.

The tranquil scene and beautiful sounds,

Put me at ease while my heart still pounds.

This is the place where I came to play,

And where I will be on my dying day.

Opposite Day!

                           April Rain Song
Let the rain kiss you
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops
Let the rain sing you a lullaby
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk
The rain makes running pools in the gutter
The rain plays a little sleep song on our roof at night
And I love the rain.
Langston Hughes

                                    April Showers

Let the rain grope you
Let the rain pelt you with car-sized water bombs
Let the rain scream at you without mercy
The rain penetrates your socks
The rain gives you a cold
The rain keeps me up all night long
Thus, I hate the rain.

Lullaby

                                                    Lullaby

Sleep tight little baby,

It’s time for bed,

Snuggle up in your covers

And rest your head.

You are so loved,

By dad and me,

My heart has a lock

And yours is the key.

Sleep tight little baby,

It’s time for bed,

Snuggle up in your covers

And rest your head.

Epistolary Poem

                   Dear Flower Box,

Thank you for bringing life

To my home on Sheffield Lane,

                                         For every inch you inhabit

Is splashed with commonly unique color.

Your body is a Wonderland.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Blur

It’s all a blur.

The day you walked away
Leaving me with more to say,
Ended the life I knew.

It’s all a blur.

Why was it was time to end?
Did our lives no longer blend?
I just don’t understand.

It’s all a blur.

No matter the reason,
It began a new season,
My picture of you, now clear.

Parody Challenge

                                                                  Trees
                                                       By: Joyce Kilmer

I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
5
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

                           My Trees Parody

I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose plentiful nuts feed those grey pests,

A nuisance who leaps branch to branch collecting,

A squirrel who takes over my home when winter comes around.

A tree that houses the obnoxious birds

Who proceed to wake me with a start each morning.

A tree whose branches scratch my windows,

The sound piercing my ears, encouraging Goosebumps.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only a true fool would plant a tree.

Day 14: Sonnets

Decisions

Although your decision came as a surprise,

I cannot ignore the hope in your eyes.

I encourage you to pursue your dreams,

My excitement for you bursts at the seams.

I know you will make it no matter where you are

Because you truly are a shining star.

You will always be my favorite twin,

My partner in crime who makes me grin.

Please know that I would never trade

All the memories that we have made.

I will be here for you, day or night,

I will prove it to you with all my might.

I hope to be there when you are a blushing bride,

Because to you, I am forever tied.

Ghazel

Just Dance

When you are overwhelmed, just dance.
If you lose your way, just dance.

Do me a favor and take a chance,
After all, it is just one dance.

Don’t worry about your stance,
I will support you in you dance.

With a touch of romance,
You will prove you know how to dance.

I knew it from the first glance,
You are the one with whom I want to dance.

The way you move has put me in a trance,
It time for the two of us to dance.

Swedish Poetry Tribute

Boyal Tribute

Jenny Nunn's translation:
How Can I Tell ...
How can I tell if your voice is beautiful.I only know, that it penetrates meand makes me shake like a leafand tears me to shreds and splits me.
What do I know about your skin and limbs. It makes me tremble that they  are yours,so for me there is no sleep or rest, till they are mine

5 Senses Challenge

Disappointment

Disappointment is a grey cloud.

It sounds like a children wailing,

Tastes like sour milk,

And smells like rotten eggs.

Disappointment is inevitable,

Yet it maintains the feeling of betrayal.

Robert Frost Tribute

The Road I’ve Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

I turned and looked down the another,
Appearing dark compared to the other.
But I believe in taking chances
So I pulled back the branches,
and began my journey through the unknown.

My choice proved to be one of promise
As the initial fear of this shady unknown
Was thrown, replaced with enchanting trees
And sunlight streaming through their leaves;
I save the other for another day, yet is doubt I’ll return.

I am where I was meant to be
After following an dubious tree.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Pink Perspective: Day 7

                   Pink

Two beautifully blushed cheeks,

Delicate, honest, true.

A hot pink miniskirt,

youthful, exotic, bold.

Ballerina slippers,

talent, elegance, splendor.

A hot pink bra,

sexy, playful, desire.

Valentine hearts,

sentiment, benevolence, love.

Pink is

Perspective.

Day 6: Cody

My love,

Your brilliance was clear with one simple look,

with magnificent colors out of a coloring book.

You brought life and beauty into my world,

your tranquil tweets the most remarkable things I heard.

My love, my brilliant bird.

My love,

You were the one who brightened my day,

when nothing seemed to be going my way.

I’d crank up the tunes and watch your head bop from left to right,

your dance moves often gave me quite the fright.

Yet I laughed and enjoyed those times,

As I listened to you mimicking the chimes.

My love, my brilliant bird.

My love,

I await your adorable chirp when I walk into my room,

but I am left without your breathtaking tune.

Mornings have changed without your beautiful voice,

yet I know you did not have a choice.

I understand that heaven is now where you fly,

we will reunite one day in the glorious sky.

To my love, my brilliant bird.

The Blues Challenge: April 4th

Tonight

Tonight is a night like any other.

I wash up and prepare for bed,
with thoughts still rushing through my head.
I constantly still think of you,
even though your words ripped me in two.

Tonight is a night like any other.

I lay in bed thinking of what could have been,
if only you had let me in.
The time we spent together came up short,
for I could not do it without your support.

Tonight is a night unlike any other.

Your cowardice choice still rings in my ears,
But I no longer shed any tears.
My heart no longer beats for you,
For my new life brings a beautiful view.

Tonight is a night of new beginnings.

My world had been turned upside down,
Yet I have realized you are no longer in town.
I have grown without you by my side,
And am happy we never tried.
